It is amazing how a new day can bring a new attitude.
#42 Taking what someone says to you and finding the truth in it. I am really working on this. Usually even if you do NOT agree with the person you can find a nibble of truth. Use that and learn from it....
#43 I was at the Mall today-truly one of my LEAST favorite places. But I smiled alot and looked people in the eye and responded with feeling when they talked to me IE how are you? I told them with gusto.

A Piece of Peace
I had many broken pieces today-lots went wrong. As Fraya said to Kora " COme on Kora mom is having a crummy afternoon-lets help her." Ahhh
Piece #40 Acknowledge your own hissy fits and own them. Apologize in the aftermath and thank your friends who I am sure helped you. yes I had hissy and afterward I posted onFB thanks to all that offered help and an ear to complain too. I also thanked my kids for being superstars....it could have been alot worse.
Piece #41 Keeping your mouth shut and listening. i often think I have the best ideas (they are to me anyway) but today during our play practice i tried hard NOT to dominate...gentle building on other ideas.

A Piece of Peace
#37 Sunshine-Everything in the world looks better with sun shining on it.
#38 Stopping and talking with the neighbors. This brings connection and connections foster peace. A piece of me wanted to keep heading home but we stopped and chatted for a long time and it was REALLY nice!
#39 Comforting a child-Fraya was riding her two wheel bike for the first time this season and wiped out....bad! She had such joy on her face and then she hit some mud the bike went one way and she literally skidded by me. I feel so good when I can comfort her.

A Piece of Peace
#34 If you look there is alot of information about how to be peaceful-why don't we use it more. I feel like I am a newbie with peace and creating peace. It has entered into my consciousness with my interactions. I try to be more mindful with my encounters.
#35 I helped a friend with her son's 7th birthday party. There was much chaos and much laughter-move forward with a smile. Remember it is all about the kids. I love watching people with great kid attitudes and learning from them.
#36 My daughter said I was stressed and I needed Kora's "moody cow" jar. Find peace even if it is in a jar....

A Piece of Peace
I am a long way from 10,000 and I desparatly need help. i must work on that.
#32 We survived our week of 5 people in our family instead of 4. Sacrificing to help others is the ultimate form of peace to the world. Making your life a little bit uncomfortable to enable someone else to do something important.
#33 I am trying to bring peace to my basement-clear out the clutter.

A Piece of Peace
#29 Finding patience in things that are trying to me. Not only does that help me it helps others I am interacting with
Do you know how hard it is to type with a cat lounging on you and the computer? he is purring away and I will not move him
#30 UMMM I made Sorbet margaritas. It is so fun to try out something new and bring it to a dinner party.
#31 Today I did not let a car go in front of me-then KaRma came and my skirt got caught in the steering wheel so I had to pull over and then the car passed me. I told my girls what happened passed on the lesson. Let people in

TOday is a very hard day. It is the anniversary of my dear friend Laura's death.
Piece #26 Remembering our friends. Take time to appreciate your friendships.
Piece #27 I told my hubby thank you forall the things he was doing (and I listed them too). I really appreciate that fact he has been patient with me through this busy and stressful week.
Piece #28 Let people cross the street. If someone lets you cross give them a BIG smile and a wave.

A Piece of Peace
It has been a long weekend.
Piece #21 Taking time for yourself when you don't have any time!! I spent time with friends up the shore to recuperate. I came back ready to give.
Piece #22 Laughing. What could be better than laughing with old friends.
Piece #23 On Monday I brought HeadStart parents down to the capital for Voices for Children Rally. It was an honor to be their mentor on their first visit to the capital-perhaps we changed a life.
Piece #24 Lying in the sand with Kora. We went down to Wisconsin Point and enjoyed the weather (it was 40 degrees and sunny). We buried sticks, threw snowballs and made stew. I loved that it was totally at her pace and her interest.
Piece #25 Stopping and watching an eagle-We all need to stop and watch wonderful natural events-they occur around us all day and rarely do we stop and truly enjoy it.

A Piece of Peace
Piece #18 Saying hello and making a bit of chat with the person working on their sidewalk.
Piece #19 Answering my phone when I know it is someone who needs something (especially since I am tapped out and did NOT want to answer it_)
Piece #20 Doing my job well-I did a really good program for my families today at the Depot about the importance of play. Iwas proud.
Piece #21 Chatting with an accquience when I am really really running late but she really really needs to talk.
Alot of these things I do because I am being more deliberate about being peaceful and some are one time things....some of these things are ongoing efforts.

A Piece of Peace
you will see a mix of pieces of peace for both internal and external worlds-remember to include yourself in your peaceful living
piece #17: today I did yoga. I love yoga for a lot of reasons but mostly because it makes me feel good but I have not done it in a long time.
Piece #18 I was at Target and I ran into a friend> Her preschool kids needed to go to the bathroom-she had a LG cart and a baby. Ioffered to hold the baby and watch the cart. She came back and said "you have no idea how much that helped"....I think I do. Pass on the Peace!

A Piece of Peace
Piece #13 An afternoon with a girlfriend. I invited her over to get her out of the house-turns out she helped me break out of MY CRABBINESS.
Piece #14 Keeping a smile on my face as 12 people(from three directions) descend on my house.
Loads of broken pieces: A tantrum (including screaming and a door slamming); VERY poor food choices; not getting outside (it was beautiful); and overwhelming crankiness

Piece #12 I have to dig deeper for this one. Take time to pet your pets. I can get in a mood and push away the animals-sometimes I just can't have another thing needing me. So today I stopped and petted the cat who pulls up my eyelids with his paws.
Broken pieces: I am crabby not sure why. Patience short, enjoyment and contentment elusive. the worst part....I am not sure why so I can not fix it.

A Piece of Peace
Two days in one post. Yesterday-busy day taking care of three little girls. Luckily I was "rewarded" with workout time and a fabulous wine and cheese party. Today, playdates and volunteering dominated the day.
yesterday:
Piece #8 I took a friends child for the whole day. It was fun and tiring. Reaching out and helping someone else even when you feel your plate is full WILL help your community and yourself.
Piece #9 A party-Thanks to stacy for hosting-thanks to "A Year of the Goat" for the inspiration. It is so important to connect with friends and celebrate something-in this case it was CHEESE.
Today
Piece #10 Volunteer! The girls and I went to the Seeds of Hope Ranch to help ready the horses for the coming riding season. It was good for the girls (importance of giving back AND being outside and exercising) AND really good for the horses. I love helping out and giving back. The ranch has given so much to our family, I want them to know how much I appreciate them.
Piece#11 Kora and I went to get haircuts and pizzas. On the way home she said I want to go Lake SUperior and throw in rocks. IT was getting late and I was tired so I said No. ANd Kora said Iwas really looking forward to it....OK. Here is the piece Be Spontaneous and Make someones day! She was thrilled and I marveled at the beautiful winter colors over Lake Superior.

A Piece of Peace
This is Day #4-I think I will introduce another concept "broken pieces"-those are the things I do (we all do) to sabatoge peaceful living. Think of all the things we do in our life that are not conscience, that do not contribute to our happiness. When our broken pieces outweigh our pieces of peace that is when we feel crappy.
Piece #5 Today I spent the day with my daughter. It was "Fraya Fun Day". The house is a pit (really nasty) but I focused and did whatever Fraya wanted-I was proud of myself to put everything else out of my mind and focus on my ninth game of "Go Fish".
Piece #6- We went out to lunch and I left a very good tip for the waitress. Reward our waitresses of the world-they bring us happiness.
Piece #7 I exercised. I brought peace to my body. It is my goal to be nicer to my body- inward to outward is the way to go.
Broken pieces: my lunch food did not make me feel good, short patiences with bedtime, being snotty to driver (outloud in my car)...I suppose I could go on but that is enough for today

A Piece of Peace
Hello to all
I hope you are beginning to follow this peace movement. I know it sounds corny but what else can a mom with two kids, 4 cats and 2 guinea pigs do to make a change in this world. If nothing else the recipents of my pieces of peace will hopefully have a bright spot of their day.
I had a up and down day. I was a bit of a stressed out mom today which does not help anyone. Parking lots, gymnastics and germs had me on high alert and stressed out. Despite all that (and a minor tantrum or two....me not the kids) I did sneak in some peaceful moments.
Piece #3 When I was ordering our food at Culvers today I looked directly at the cashier, chatted with him and told him he did a good job (he was in training). I can not tell you how many times I have checked out (supermarket, library, fast food) and not acknowledged the person on the other end. How many interactions have you had and not even looked up? I challenge you to LOOK UP!!
Piece #4. We have been living in our house for over two years. We have done very little entertaining here. Tonight we had friends over to share our TransSiberian trip-good food, good people and good conversation. THat is what makes the world a better place!

Piece #2
Today I helped welcome a baby girl into our world. I supported the family and photographed the event. I want them to know the birth changed our world and it was incredible. I do not think there is a more amazing event-WORLD stop and celebrate. My husband takes the piece of peace award-4 kids, stuck inside AND he kept his dignity/sanity. Kudos to you...(he is now having a well deserved beer)

A Piece of Peace
Hello to the World
I am entering into the blogging world to start my campaign of gathering 10,000 pieces of peace from around the world in one year. I need help! I will post my small pieces of peace and I am asking you to do the same. My hypothesis-the world would be a better place if everyone did one more small bit of kindness (peace) each day-lets try it.
I am new and nervous so stay with me and lets see where this can lead us.
sam
ps-I thought Valentines Day would be appropriate time to start a campaign of PEACE.
Piece #1: i wrote a love letter to each of my girls for valentines day. I want them to know that I love them to the moon and around the universe and back again!
